Yesterday we received word from the MHSAA that the remaining winter tournaments and the spring seasons are cancelled, thus ending our 2019 and 2020 sports season. We had previously hoped that as we navigated through our current situation, there might be some way to provide abbreviated seasons for our sports programs and give our seniors a last chance to compete. Unfortunately, this will not be happening. Although we all share in the disappointment that spring sports are cancelled, it is important that we understand the decision was made in the best interest of the safety and health of all involved in our athletics programs.
As we navigate these uncharted waters, the Athletic Department would like to especially thank all the seniors that have represented West Bloomfield High School so well, both on and off the field, over the last four years. Your drive, determination, and “can do it” attitude that you have displayed through athletics at WBHS will guide you through any obstacles you will face in the future. We are proud of you and all your accomplishments. The Athletic Department would like to recognize all seniors in a spring sport with a “Senior Spotlight” shared on our website and also posted on Facebook and Twitter. Your coaches should have reached out to you with information regarding this. Please send your completed videos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For those that would like to see the press release from the MHSAA, it is posted below:
We will get through these tough times together. Laker Nation is strong and is proud of the perserverance of all in our community. We will be together again soon.
