West Bloomfield faced off against the top swimmers and divers across Oakland County this past weekend at the 2019 Oakland County Girls Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing 17th out of 32 teams.
Swimming saw several team top times for the season so far, but one race outshined them all. The 200 Yard Medley Relay squad of Avelina Valdez, Mattie Smith, Lauren MacDonald, and Megan Neeley set a new West Bloomfield High School record of 1:53.18, smashing the previous school record set in 1991 by over a full second. There is a lot of season left for the relay squad to set their sights on besting this time again – we look forward to what they can accomplish.
Next up for the Lakers is a home dual meet against Detroit Country Day on Thursday 10/10.
