Despite the ladies tennis team being down three members from the original lineup, the team fought hard and played up in many instances to have a great outing at the Plymouth Invitational.
The team placed 5th with 12 points. Some key contributors today were Alexis McCallion, Surveen Singh, and Amanda Pattah who came in to fill tough roles and played some of the best tennis all year.
Earning a consolation medal today was Navya Paingol who normally plays doubles. However, she was asked to play 3 singles and won the consolation bracket with a ton of consistency at the baseline.
Also winning the consolation bracket for their flight was Melanie Costello and Maddie Sandberg. They fought off some tough opponents throughout the day and came back in the last match to win the 4 doubles consolation flight.
Earning 3rd place medals today were Lindsay Schwartz and Nicole Ruza who played extremely aggressive and impressed the coach with their play and baseline angles.
The big winners on the day were the 2nd place finishers of Michelle Grigorov, Denise Grigorov and Sasha Ivanova. All three players were playing up a flight from their normal positions and played some very smart tennis.
The 3 doubles of Denise Grigorov and Sasha Ivanova had their best day all year and came away with some great experience that will hopefully lead to success the rest of the season.
Michelle Grigorov played 2 singles and used the pace of the other player to her advantage as she out thought her opponents on the court as she claimed a silver medal today.
Congrats to all the girls that played. It was great to see everyone step up and play well.
Next match will be Monday home against Detroit Renaissance at 4pm. Hope to see everyone out there supporting the team.
