The Lakers tennis team fell to 5-5 (0-2) on the year after a tough defeat by the hands of the Berkley Bears. The two league opponents faced off and had a ton of close matches. Unfortunately, many of the close matches went Berkley’s way.
The singles lineup played well today. Varun Talluri got the lone win for the team with a 6-4, 6-4 win at 3 singles. Matt Gordinier had one of his best matches of the year but fell to a great opponent 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Jin Park also had a nice match but fell in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 at 4 singles.
The doubles also had some great matches but the Berkley consistency was a bit too much for the Lakers’ doubles teams. 2 doubles of Brendan Moran/ Daniel Litman almost pulled an upset over an undefeated 2 doubles team. 2 doubles lost 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.
3 doubles of Andrew Ingber and Lukas Graff played a tight three setter. Unfortunately, the pressure the other team created at the net was too much as they succumbed to the loss 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
The team is now 5-5 (0-2) on the year. Next match is away at Rochester Adams at 4pm this Thursday.
