The West Bloomfield Varsity Tennis Team swept Avondale at the season opener on Thursday August 20! Congratulations to all of the Lakers who competed well and earned victories: Rowan Shell pulled out a huge three set win at #1 singles 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Evin Azariah earned a convincing victory at #2 singles 6-1, 6-1. Shay Chismody rolled past his opponent 6-1, 6-0 and freshman Nathan Nikolov was victorious in his high school tennis debut at #4 singles 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, the Lakers controlled all courts. At #1 doubles, Logan Glass and Sheldon Samuels won 6-2, 6-3 and Parker Gnesin and Donovan Padgett were victorious with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Congratulations to Neil Dhoot and Desdon Padgett on a 6-2, 6-1 win at #3 doubles. This was Neil and Desdon's first varsity match. At #4 doubles, Nathan Yun and Zev Gross rolled past Avondale with a 6-1, 6-0 score to start out their first varsity season with a bang. Max Wakeford and Griffin Mayrend had an impressive showing at #5 doubles with an 8-1 score, and Aarav Sheth and Nathan Yun won 8-5 at #6 doubles.
