Senior Trae Lewis closed out his high school swimming career with an outstanding performance at his first MHSAA State Meet, earning All-American honors, breaking two long-standing team records, and finishing on the podium in two events. Lewis placed 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:49.17. The performance not only secured a top-three finish but also broke the school record and earned him All-American consideration honors. He followed that performance with another remarkable swim in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing 2nd with a season-best time of 48.89. The swim earned Lewis automatic All-American honors while also breaking a team record that had stood for 27 years. The previous mark of 53.27 had been set in 1999. Lewis’ achievements highlight a tremendous senior season and solidify his place among the top swimmers in program history. He will continue both his academic and athletic career at Oakland University, where he will compete for the Golden Grizzlies swimming and diving program.
