The West Bloomfield Lakers Boys Varsity Lacrosse team opened their home season with determination and grit, hosting an energized Bay City Central blended squad. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Lakers fell 14–5 in their season opener. While the final score did not fall in their favor, the Lakers demonstrated resilience and a strong team-first mentality from start to finish. Hustle and effort were evident across the field, highlighted by an impressive 15 players recording at least one ground ball—an encouraging sign of depth and commitment. Leading the ground ball effort were Ian Hamann and Yousef Mohammed, each tallying 7 ground balls, while midfielder Jimmy Collins added 5 to pace the midfield unit. Offensively, five different Lakers found the back of the net. Alex Pomeroy led the scoring with 2 goals, while Yousef Mohammed, Kyle Geiser, and Aidan Snead each contributed a goal in the contest. Despite the outcome, the Lakers showed promise in their ability to compete and support one another across all phases of the game. The team exits the opener healthy and focused on key improvements, including increasing possession time and generating more offensive opportunities as the season progresses. The Lakers look forward to building on this performance as they continue their 2026 campaign.
