In their season opener, the West Bloomfield Girls Varsity Soccer team faced a tough out-of-conference matchup against Holly High School, who entered the game with several contests already under their belt. Playing on the road, the Lakers battled throughout but ultimately fell 9–1. Mharei Sampson led the way for West Bloomfield with a standout goal, providing a bright spot in a challenging game. Team captains Natalie Rebtoy and Sarina Khatchadourian anchored the effort, doing an outstanding job on both sides of the ball; Defending strongly while continuing to push play forward from center defense and center midfield. In goal, Tayln Rigney showed tremendous bravery and composure, coming up with several stellar saves throughout the match. Despite the final score, the team showed determination and gained valuable early-season experience against strong competition. The Lakers look to build on that effort as they return home this Thursday, March 26th, to take on Wayne Memorial.
