The West Bloomfield High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse team came up just short in a tightly contested matchup on the road, falling to Troy Athens High School 8–6 in a game that remained competitive through all four quarters. West Bloomfield set the tone early, leading in first-quarter scoring with strong offensive execution and energy. After dropping the second quarter, the Lakers responded with a resilient third quarter performance—highlighted by a defensive shutout and a surge on offense to even the score heading into the final frame. Despite the momentum, Troy Athens pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter, edging out the Lakers by two goals to secure the win. Senior Kyle Geiser led the offensive charge with a standout performance, recording a hat trick while playing a pivotal role in creating scoring opportunities and extending offensive possessions. Alex Pomeroy added two goals, while Luke Redner and Andrew Dean each contributed one. At the faceoff X, Andrew Dean and his unit delivered a strong showing, winning 8 of 14 faceoffs. Dean also led all players in ground balls with six, demonstrating his impact across multiple phases of the game. Additional ground ball efforts came from Zach Boisvenu, Nick Voorhees, and Aidan Snead, who each collected three. The Lakers’ man-down unit proved exceptional, holding Troy Athens scoreless on seven penalty opportunities—an impressive defensive effort that kept West Bloomfield within striking distance throughout the contest. Coach Banicki said, "This is a fun group to coach, we are building together and getting better every competition. There are silver linings even in this loss and I look forward to our continued team work as the season progresses". While the result did not fall in their favor, West Bloomfield showed grit, discipline, and continued growth. The team will look to build on this performance as they return to work, focusing on creating more offensive opportunities in the games ahead.
