Girls Varsity Lacrosse Defeats Waterford United 13-6

Girls varsity lacrosse defeats Waterford 13-6 The Lady Lakers opened up OAA white division league play Wednesday night with a victory over Waterford United 13-6. The offense was firing on all cylinders with goals being scored with multiple assists. Senior captain Hannah Grubbs was player of the game leading the team with draw controls(5) , ground balls(4), scoring 3 goals , and adding an assist. Senior Byrn Cusak led the Lakers in scoring with 4 goals, followed by senior Amelie Burtka (2), junior Sydney Denawitz ( 2), and junior Kiera Pratt (1, 2A). Senior Julia Amato added a goal while also winning 4 draw controls. The defense only allowed 16 shots on goal , enabling junior goalie Layla Klanquin to finish the night with 10 saves and a 62% save percentage. The Lakers have another home game on Friday against Cass Tech before returning to league play next week.
