The boys and girls track & field teams competed in their first meet of the season, as they travelled to North Farmington HS on Wednesday, April 8th. Both teams beat North Farmington and are now 1-0 in league competition. Team scores: Boys 82-46 / Girls 71-44. The boys were highlighted by placing first and second in four events: 800m (Ethan & Elijah Sherrod-Watkins), 3200m (Luis Holowinski & Josue Martinez), 110m hurdles (Ryan Everett & Myles Watson) & 300m hurdles (Myles Watson & Ryan Everett), as well as, winning all four relays (4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m & 4x800m). The girls were highlighted by sweeping the 200m dash (Ese Uwedjojevwe, Lauryn Choice & Mharei Sampson), placing first and second in the 400m dash (Kamryn Tatum & London Craighead) & winning all four relays (4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m & 4x800m). Your “LAKERS OF THE MEET” are: Boys: Cameron Goodman / Cameron placed second in the high jump with a new personal record. He also competed in the discus, shot put and 300m hurdles. Musa Kay / Musa placed first in the 1600m run and ran on the winning 3200m relay & 1600m relay teams. Girls: Isadorah Freeman-Nix / Izzy placed second in the 100m hurdles, first in the 300m hurdles and anchored the winning 400m relay. Ese Uwedjojevwe / Ese placed first in the long jump, 200m dash and ran on the winning 800m relay & 1600m relay teams.
