On the Varsity side, the Lakers faced early adversity, finishing the first quarter trailing by just one goal but losing a key player in the opening frame. The challenges continued into the second half with another key player sidelined, forcing West Bloomfield to dig deep into its roster. Junior Varsity call-ups Richard Hammill and Jack Jozwick stepped up, logging their first varsity minutes and working hard to help slow Rochester’s offensive momentum. Despite the effort, the Varsity team fell 14-1. Ian Hamann led the Lakers with 4 ground balls, while sophomores Aiden Snead and Jack Jozwick each collected 3, highlighting the team’s hustle and willingness to compete through adversity. Luke Redner, Gavin Anderson, and freshman goalie Everett Johns step-up and fill in for injured players, a great peek at our future leaders filling in when needed. While the result wasn’t what the Varsity squad hoped for, the experience gained—especially by younger players stepping into bigger roles—proved invaluable. The Lakers remain focused on growth, improvement, and preparation as they move forward. West Bloomfield now turns its attention to the next opponent, committed to building on lessons learned and continuing to compete at a high level.
