The Lakers traveled to Troy to face the 12th ranked Redhawks in the league opener and fell 3-2 on a walkoff hit in what was a highly competitive game. Connor Strong started and went 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs and Connor Smith finished, going 2 1/3 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run. Bryce Tillman-Jones reached base 3 times, 2-2 with a walk and 1 run scored, Danny Owens was 2-3 with an RBI and Jacob Hughey had the other hit to round out the offense. The Lakers look for payback in game 2 as they head back to Athens in the second of the 3 game series on Tuesday.
