West Bloomfield Varsity Softball dropped a high-scoring contest to Avondale, 28–11, on Thursday. Both teams came out swinging early. Avondale jumped ahead in the top of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run inside-the-park home run from Isabel Beltinck. West Bloomfield answered right back in the bottom half, as Lili Rodriguez delivered an inside-the-park home run and Nevaeh Nieradka added an RBI single to even the score. The Lakers continued to battle offensively in the second inning, taking an 8–7 lead behind timely contributions from Analizabeth Rodriguez, Jaelynn Randolph, and Nieradka. However, Avondale responded with a big third inning to regain control of the game and extended their lead from there. Rodriguez led the way offensively for West Bloomfield, going 3-for-4 at the plate, including her inside-the-park home run. The Lakers collected 12 hits as a team in the effort
