04/25/26 | WBHS Track and Field: Oxford Invitational - Meet Recap The boys and girls track & field teams competed at the Oxford Invitational @ Oxford High School on Saturday, April 25th. The boys scored 20 points and placed 12th overall, while the girls scored 28 points and placed 11th. The boys were highlighted by the first place 3200m relay team: Elijah Sherrod-Watkins, Musa Kay, Sebastian Roncier & Luis Holowinski. The girls were highlighted by having two athletes place in the 100m dash: Ese Uwedjojevwe (3rd) & Mharei Sampson (6th). Your “LAKERS OF THE MEET” are: Boys: Willie Edwards Jr. / Willie placed fourth in the 100m dash with a new PB “personal best” time of 11.14 and ran on the 800m relay & 400m relay teams. Luis Holowinski / Luis placed fifth in the 1600m run with a new PB time of 4:42.67 and ran on the winning 3200m relay team. Girls: Isadorah Freeman-Nix / Izzy placed third in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles with new PB times of 16.52 and 50.22 respectively. Izzy also anchored the eighth place 400m relay team. Layla Sharif / Layla placed fourth in the discus with a SB “season best” throw of 106-02.00 and seventh in the shot put with a new PB distance of 33-09.50. Overall medalists for West Bloomfield were: BOYS (4 events): 100m dash: Willie Edwards Jr. (4th place) 800m run: Musa Kay (8th place) 1600m run: Luis Holowinski (5th place) 3200m relay (4x800m): Elijah Sherrod-Watkins, Musa Kay, Sebastian Roncier & Luis Holowinski (1st place) GIRLS (7 events): Discus: Layla Sharif (4th place) Shot Put: Layla Sharif (7th place) 100m dash: Ese Uwedjojevwe (3rd place) & Mharei Sampson (6th place) 200m dash: Ese Uwedjojevwe (8th place) 100m hurdles: Isadorah Freeman-Nix (3rd place) 300m hurdles: Isadorah Freeman-Nix (4th place) 400m relay (4x100m): Sanyya McColough-Easley, Mharei Sampson, Lauren Hall & Isadorah Freeman-Nix (8th place) The next meet on the schedule is a home double-dual meet vs. Avondale & Waterford Mott on Wednesday, April 29th. This is the one and only home meet of the season, and is the Lakers “Senior Night”. Time schedule: 4:00pm - Senior Honoring/Recognition, 4:40pm - Field Events and 5:00pm - Running Events.
