The West Bloomfield High School boys varsity lacrosse team earned a strong 8–5 victory over Farmington on Tuesday evening, continuing a successful stretch for the program. With the win, both the varsity and junior varsity squads improve to 2–0 against Farmington this season. The Lakers controlled the tempo throughout the game, maintaining possession for extended stretches and holding the lead from start to finish. Physical play and disciplined defense set the tone early, highlighted by several key moments. Noam Schlagman delivered a perfectly timed slide, meeting an attacker with a clean body check that dislodged the ball and prevented a shot on goal. Captain Kyle Geiser added to the intensity with a hard hit during a ride, while Aiden Snead stepped up defensively with a clean, physical stop on a key Farmington attackman. Ian Hamann and Nick Voorhees anchored a strong defensive unit with consistent open and close play. Offensively, captain Alex Pomeroy led the charge with four goals, setting the pace for the Lakers. Snead contributed with a goal of his own, cutting into the paint off an assist from Geiser, who finished the night with three goals and four assists. Gavin Anderson and Aiden Snead both had 1 assist. Ground ball efforts were led by Ian Hamann and Kyle Geiser with three apiece. Drew Dean, Alex Pomeroy, Jimmy Collins, and Aiden Snead each added two ground balls, contributing to the team’s overall possession advantage. The Lakers will look to continue improving in this area by involving more players in ground ball opportunities and increasing off-ball movement. Faceoff specialist Drew Dean played a pivotal role in the win, securing the majority of faceoffs and giving West Bloomfield consistent control at the X. Dean also contributed with strong on-ball defense and key transition passes. Jimmy Collins, returning from injury, made an immediate impact with tough defensive play, effective clears, and smart off-ball movement that created scoring opportunities. Despite several penalties that allowed Farmington to stay within reach, West Bloomfield’s physicality, ball movement, and shot selection proved to be the difference. The Lakers will look to build on this performance as they continue their season with a focus on team-wide contributions and continued development.
