Ryan Hood, a senior point guard for West Bloomfield High School, will be signing to attend and play basketball at Owens Community College in Ohio. He plans on majoring in CAD Technology. Ryan has been playing basketball since he was 4 years old. He grew up watching his brother play and being around basketball 24/7 inspired him to play basketball. His junior year of High School he moved to Dallas, Texas and played basketball at Duncanville High School, where his team was ranked 13th in the nation and won a state championship. Ryan is very competitive and passionate about the game. The early mornings and late nights working out with his brother are a huge part of his success in basketball. Ryan started off his high school career at West Bloomfield on JV where he only lost 1 game. His sophomore year he was on varsity where he and his team won a league championship in the OAA Red. He finished his high school basketball career at West Bloomfield High School helping lead his team to a District Championship. Ryan learned a lot from his time at West Bloomfield and is grateful for all the hardships and good times he had. “First, I would like to thank God for allowing me to continue playing the game I love and achieve my dream of playing basketball at the next level. I would also like to thank all the coaches I had along my journey from Coach Sid, Coach Jordan and Coach Peavy in Texas, and all my AAU coaches. You've all taught me not only how to be the best basketball player, but life lessons I will carry forever. Thank you to all my friends and relationships I built through this game, you all will forever be my brothers. Most importantly I would like to thank my family. When I think about how I got here today, it’s impossible not to start with my family. You’ve been with me through every early morning, every late night, every win, and every tough loss. You’ve sacrificed your time, your energy, and so much more just to give me the chance to chase this dream. There were days when I considered quitting, times I was tired, frustrated, or doubting myself, but you never did. You kept pushing me, believing in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. Whether it was rides to practice, sitting in the stands at every game, or just reminding me to stay focused and keep working, you’ve been my foundation through all of it. I promise this is just the beginning. Thank you for always having my back. I love yall! “Go Express!!!”
