Trae Lewis, a backstroke and Individual medley swimmer at West Bloomfield High School, will be signing to attend and continue his swimming career for Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. He plans on majoring in business administration and pursuing law soon after. Trae has been swimming since the age of ten, when he asked his Mom to put him in one last sport, swimming. He began swimming with Aqua, a small team practicing at the JCC. Moving on soon after, though, to Spartan Aquatic Club, swimming there up until his Senior year of high school, finally transferring to swim at Supernova. He swam backstroke throughout his career, competed in multiple national meets, and was ranked in the top 10 nationally in the 200 and 100 backstroke. Trae’s career at West Bloomfield, although short, was very successful. Breaking 4 team records, 2 league records, 1 all-league record, All-American in the 100 backstroke, and All-state in the 200 IM, with 2 top-3 finishes at MHSAA Division 1 states. “I would like to first thank my family for supporting me so much during this recruitment process, and these last 7 years of swimming. Every morning you guys woke me up, and every dinner ready for me when I would come home late at night mattered more than words could express. I also would like to thank my Coaches, Ronson, Jamie, and James, for bringing me to the place I am now. There is no way I would have gone this far without your help, and you guys truly made me into the swimmer I am today. I would also like to thank my teammates; this year has been invaluable to me, and the team camaraderie I felt this year was the most I have had in my entire life. Thank you, WB swim.”
