Shannon "Rocco" Rochon, a senior receiver at West Bloomfield High School, will be signing to attend and play football at Bluffton University in Ohio. He plans to major in biology. Shannon began his athletic career as a dedicated basketball player, but things changed during his freshman year of high school when he decided to give football a try. Starting on the freshman and JV teams, he played both wide receiver and safety, developing his skills and understanding of the game from multiple positions. As he continued to grow, he found his true fit at wide receiver, which he would ultimately play on varsity. What started as a new challenge quickly turned into a passion, shaping his journey and success as a football player. Shannon has been a dedicated athlete throughout his high school career, developing into a key contributor at wide receiver through his hard work and consistency. He was also part of a district championship basketball team, showcasing his competitiveness and commitment to winning. "First off, I would like to thank God for allowing this opportunity to come to me. If you asked me a couple of months ago while my friends and fellow teammates were signing, I would've told you I didn't have any plans on playing football in college. This is truly a blessing. That leads me to say thank you to Coach Hilbers for creating this opportunity for me. It is and will always be greatly appreciated. I also want to thank Coach Arm, Coach Ron, and Coach Earl. You all have made a big impact on my life outside of football and always had confidence in me and my talent. I want to thank all my teammates and friends as well, especially the Starting 5. I look at you all as brothers. Lastly, I want to give thanks to all of my family, but especially to my mom. She’s had the biggest impact on my life and is my why when it comes to anything in life. Thank you all for being here and Go Beavers!”
