Obi Duru, a student-athlete for West Bloomfield High School, will be attending Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He plans on majoring in Biology Science. Growing up, Obi was always involved in sports, but he truly began taking athletics seriously during his 8th grade year. From that point on, he committed himself to improving his skills, building his strength, and developing the mindset needed to compete at a high level. His hard work and consistency helped shape him into the athlete he is today. During his time at West Bloomfield, Obi demonstrated resilience, leadership, and a strong work ethic. He played multiple positions throughout his high school career, including running back, wide receiver, defensive back, and linebacker. His versatility and willingness to step into any role made him a valuable asset to the team. No matter where he was placed on the field, Obi approached the game with intensity, discipline, and a team-first mindset. His determination and dedication have earned him the opportunity to continue his academic and athletic career at the next level. “First, I want to thank God for putting me in this position and guiding me along the way.
