Bruce Haynes, a senior basketball player, will be signing to attend Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York. He plans on majoring in Engineering Science and Business while continuing his academic and athletic career. Bruce has been playing basketball for 13 years and has developed a strong passion for the game through dedication, hard work, and countless hours in the gym. During his high school career, he transferred from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s to West Bloomfield, where he continued to grow and compete at a high level. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple accomplishments including being a 4-time district champion, 3-time Catholic League champion, 3-time regional champion, and a state champion. During his time at West Bloomfield, Bruce has experienced both wins and losses, learning valuable lessons from each. The game has helped build strong bonds with teammates and created memories that will last a lifetime. Through it all, he has stayed committed to family, players and people. “First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love and putting me in this position today. Without Him, none of this would be possible. I want to give a special thank you to my mom. You’ve sacrificed so much for me and always made sure I stayed on the right path. You’ve been there through everything, the ups and the downs and I wouldn’t be here without you. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. I also want to thank the rest of my family for always supporting me and pushing me to be my best, not just in basketball but in life. To my friends and teammates, thank you for believing in me and helping me grow not just as a player, but as a person. All the lessons, the discipline, and the advice you’ve given me will stay with me as I move forward. Transferring from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s to West Bloomfield for my senior year was a big change. I really had to bet on myself and make the most of every situation that was presented to me. It helped me grow as a player and as a person. This year pushed me to adapt and work harder, and it ended up being one of the best years of my high school career. I’ll always be grateful for that experience. Thank you to everyone who supported me. This isn’t the end, it's just the beginning of the next chapter.”
