The boys and girls track & field teams competed at the Farmington Invitational @ Farmington High School on Saturday, May 2nd. The boys scored 22 points and placed 14th overall, while the girls scored 33 points and placed 7th. The boys were highlighted by several PB’s “personal best”: JV 1600m run (Michael Williams, Graham Kubiak, Haven William, Josue Martinez & Tiffin Brenner), 400m dash (Solomon Elam), 110m hurdles (Alex Kemp) & 300m hurdles (Myles Watson). The girls were highlighted by two EQ’s “early qualifier" events: 200m dash (Kamryn Tatum) & 800m relay (Ese Uwedjojevwe, Mahrei Sampson, Kamryn Tatum & Lauryn Choice). Also, running a PB in the 300m hurdles was Isadorah Freeman-Nix. Your “LAKERS OF THE MEET” are: Boys: 3200m relay / The team of Elijah Sherrod-Watkins, Musa Kay, Sebastian Roncier & Elijah Sherrod-Watkins placed first with a new SB “season best” time of 7:58.88. Girls: 800m relay / The quartet of Ese Uwedjojevwe, Mahrei Sampson, Kamryn Tatum & Lauryn Choice placed first in both the 400m relay & 800m relay. The 800m relay also beat the EQ “early qualifier” standard and have qualified for the MHSAA State Finals. Kamryn Tatum / Kamryn beat the EQ standard in the 200m prelims and ran on the winning 400m relay & 800m relay teams. She has now EQ’d in three events this season: 200m dash, 400m dash & 800m relay.
