The West Bloomfield Varsity Lady Lakers wrapped up their regular season Tuesday night in a high-scoring battle against Ferndale, ultimately falling 21-19 despite an impressive offensive performance. The Lakers collected 16 hits and showed resilience throughout the night, battling back from an early 13-4 deficit and briefly taking a 14-13 lead after a 10-run third inning. Mya Porter delivered one of the biggest moments of the comeback with a two-run single, while the Lakers continued to pressure Ferndale with aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. Nevaeh Nieradka paced the Lakers offensively, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Porter, Analizabeth Rodriguez, Kylah Kareem, and Jaslyn Dubose each recorded multiple hits as West Bloomfield consistently put pressure on the Ferndale defense. The Lakers also showed aggressiveness on the bases, stealing 23 total bases in the contest. Defensively, West Bloomfield played a clean game without committing an error. Anna Bilkey started in the circle for the Lakers before Lili Rodriguez came on in relief and struck out five over three and two-thirds innings. Despite the loss, West Bloomfield continued to show fight and offensive growth heading into district play this weekend.
