Senior Night at home against Clarkston delivered everything a big‑stage game should have — emotion, intensity, pride, and a battle that came down to the final seconds. The Lakers fought with heart and unity, but fell 3–2 after Clarkston scored a last‑minute goal. Even with the loss, the night belonged to the seniors, especially the captains, who showed exactly why they are the backbone of this program. ⭐ Senior Stars of the Night (Captains Leading the Way) Sydney (Captain) was nothing short of phenomenal. She is the backbone of the team, and she proved it again with a performance that impressed everyone especially Coach Z. Her matchup against GPS earlier in the season already showed her elite level, slicing through opponents with control and confidence. Against Clarkston, she continued that dominance: No defender snatched the ball from her dodging skills at a level rarely seen in high school...Total command of possession and tempo. Sydney represented the true Lakers spirit leadership, poise, and excellence. Eva (Captain) was a powerhouse from start to finish. Her strength, commitment, courage, and controlled positioning made her the perfect co‑captain. She held the back line together, stepped early, and played with the maturity of a true leader. Together, Sydney and Eva showed what senior leadership looks like united, disciplined, and inspiring. Emma took charge of the defense with confidence and maturity. Her progress this season has been remarkable stepping into challenges, clearing danger, and showing she belongs at the top level. Casey joined the team last year and worked her way into the starting lineup through pure effort and commitment. Her presence, discipline, and reliability were felt throughout the game. Game Breakdown: Clarkston scored in the 1st and 2nd quarters, taking an early lead, but the Lakers refused to back down. In the 3rd quarter, Ava Nelander took over scoring both goals and tying the game 2–2. Her speed, timing, and finishing brought WB right back into the fight. The Lakers pushed hard, created chances, and controlled long stretches of the game. But Clarkston capitalized in the final minute, scoring the deciding goal. Even with the loss, WB played with heart, discipline, and intensity. The opponents’ goalie made extraordinary saves, and the Lakers missed several opportunities that could have changed the outcome. 🎙️ Final Takeaway: Despite the scoreboard, the Lakers played really well united, motivated, and driven. Senior Night showcased the leadership, growth, and spirit of this team. The captains were the stars of the night, and the seniors set the tone for what WB field hockey stands for. The fight continues. The pride remains. The Lakers move forward stronger. Go Lakers! Coach Z
